FOAM

June 1, 2026

Since 2025, I have had the pleasure of working on a range of projects for the multifaceted, internationally renowned photography museum FOAM in Amsterdam. FOAM aims to connect different views, visions, and perspectives, inviting everyone to explore photography and its many possibilities.

Together with Studio Polat, I curated and developed a symposium in 2025 focused on the intersection of photography, AI, and the archive. The program explored the power, vulnerability, and future of the photographic archive—particularly online archives—through the lens of Second World War collections and heritage institutions. Hosted by Ahmet Polat, the symposium featured guest speakers Charles Jeurgens, Laurens Vreekamp, Sennay Ghebreab, Monique Steijns, Vera van der Burg, Thamar Luthart (Medusa Medusa), René Kok, and spoken word artist Rashif El Kaoui, who shared their perspectives and expertise.

In addition, I collaborated with World Press Photo on the Joop Swart Masterclass, one of its leading educational programs for emerging photographers working in documentary photography, photojournalism, and visual storytelling. Together with curator Aya Musa, I developed a masterclass for 13 selected international photographers. The result was an inspiring and in-depth program that explored topics such as visual storytelling in politically sensitive times and the museum as a space for reflection and dialogue about art and society.

I also coordinated the multi-day Foam Talent Masterclasses. Foam Talent showcases a new generation of image-makers through its biennial open call, which gives emerging artists the opportunity to gain international recognition within the photography world. In 2026, we developed an intensive program consisting of seven masterclasses across four days and multiple locations. The program featured speakers including Afaina de Jong, Rita Ouédraogo, and Tessa Giller.
